The Library collects and preserves our community's memory in the California History Room. Written, visual and audible materials created by
and about Monterey-area residents are housed in a climate-controlled room, and are available to the public and
scholars for research. Collections document early California, the geographic, cultural and social region including the
Monterey Peninsula, and the City of Monterey.
